Good read sparty, thanks for posting.

I don't have a problem with blazers or jackets as long as there are skirts and heels instead of pants.

But skeptics find ulterior motives in the modern newswoman image, one that’s celebrated in men’s magazines and YouTube tributes to the legs of NBC’s “Today.” Skin sells, and media are more competitive than ever: Are networks encouraging lower necklines and higher hemlines to boost ratings?

Duh, of course they are.

Too messy to get an account just to post my comments for this article only as I don't every go to that site. So here they are.

I think that local channels and networks look for the nicest looking women to hire in order to appeal to a demographic and they like to have fashion consultants work on the females to make them look good. That is why we have very pretty women on news channels and newscasts. But there are exceptions to the rule. As people noted there is Greta Van Sustern, Candy Crowley, Nancy Grace, Andrea Mitchell, Lesley Stahl, Joy Behar and Barbara Walters. But they have some reputation with the places they work and it gets them still work. However, the main theme is that news channels like to have pretty women in newscasts. The eye candy brings in viewers.

Right, because if we wanted news we can get that on the internet. The whole reason to watch the news is for the ladies.
