My odds on favorite would be Nikki Bella. Mock professional wrestling if you will, but what they do is as close to dancing as ice skating was for Kristi Yamaguchi. The Bella twins also have a tremendous work ethic, from their work with John Cena and Daniel Bryan.

I agree with you that ice skating and professional wresling are similarly close to dancing ie not much. A friend of mine who did a lot of figure skating and dancing in her younger years was puzzled when people thought Kristi was a ringer because "figure skating is like dancing on ice". Kristi won DWTS partly because of decades of a tremendous work ethic, partly because she knew how to be an entertainer, partly because she's very fit, but not a lot of the technical skills of ice skating help with dancing. For those same reasons Nikki stands a good chance if she can learn the complex dance steps.

Edit: Wait a minute..... What am I thinking? :TickTock DWTS is a popularity contest not a dancing contest. :Doh

Debbie Gibson has some of the most excellent legs you will ever see :D . Definitely try to cap her, please when she is on.

As for the athletes, I wonder if this appearance by Terrell Owens could boost his chances for induction next February into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Scary part TO is doing another reality show soon. Also I would have like to see Lori Greiner compete against Barbara because they compete against each other on the Shark Tank.

And this will be the only season of DWTS this year; a junior version is planned for 2018 and any additional info on that is TBA (maybe alums John O'Hurley and Melissa Rycroft or Stacy Keibler -- the latter returning to the spotlight after some three years -- could host).

By the way...I think country singer Chuck Wicks competed one season with then-girlfriend Julianne Hough as his partner.

Debbie is a ringer right under everybody's nose.

30 Years ( Yes 30 Years she has been around) of Choreography/with dancing tours/ videos/ Broadways/ etc.

She may not be a good dancer but she has the background & is far ahead of at least half the cast coming out of the gate.

Also has a small but loyal click of fans that will vote so she should last at least into the second half of the show.

If the phone lines were not so jammed all the time, Debbie Gibson would definitely get my vote.

Interestingly Univision's show debuted last night. Not many contestants and mostly men but Ana Patricia Gamez is in the show and also few actresses and Dayanara Torres, a former Miss Universe.
