Very interesting that the pairing became permanent only less than two weeks before the typical May ratings sweep takes place.
The only way to safely categorize this move is three-fold:
1. Certain focus groups, along with the brass at Disney decided that they were better than Rhiannon Ally and Gio Benitez.
2. Also of note, they decided to go in a different direction on the weekend show.
3. It looks like that GMA3 will be saved from the literal chopping block with the thousands of layoffs affecting sister network ESPN after the first of three rounds took place in late April--with many on-air talent nervously awaiting their fate.
