Yes, it is true.
For the first time since 2011-2012, back when Ann Curry and Matt Lauer held down the anchor chairs at 30 Rock--NBC is back on top in the weekday morning slot.

Two reasons why for the surge started with Savannah Guthrie having to leave five days before the Winter Olympics began in Italy. The daily saga of her mother being taken captive and not turning up any leads gripped the nation and the world. The Winter Olympics were live during their normal morning slot, so it worked out great for viewers.

As for ABC, they have been getting too gimmicky. And with their three main anchors not on set together, Disney is looking to cut costs. I could see Michael Strahan leaving, largely because he has said the cross-country travel is taking a toll, especially during the football season. This way, he can stay in L.A. and cover America's #1 pregame on FOX.

Also, Robin Roberts and George S. just don't have that chemistry anymore.
The New York Post has more on what else raised some alarm bells. But don't blame Ginger Zee, but the themes of certain subject--should be relative news that cater mostly to women (and some guys as well.)
