On Tuesday (October 6), David Ellison began his first full day as CEO of the former Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery companies. His introductory remarks was a cautious tone, but as history tells us--keep in one one movie industry insider told Status last week, it's going to be "a bloodbath." Thousands of people will be laid off over the next 12 to 18 months. Five movie studios become four, HBO Max and Paramount+ will more than likely become one combined (and very expensive) streaming service, and the combined CBS Sports/TNT Sports properties in both the United States and Europe rival that of only The Worldwide Leader in ESPN. For purposes of this forum, let's see what happens with CNN especially if they keep their "editorial independence" without Bari Weiss in the picture except for dismantling CBS News.
