With the Chicago White Sox beating Detroit on Thursday at The Rate, there is a virtual tie atop the A.L. Central.

However, Chicago won the season series over the Cleveland Guardians thanks to their victory on Monday night in Ohio.

It's going to be a battle for second place and a first round bye or the sixth and final spot behind the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, who are both ticketed for a wild card matchup at Yankee Stadium to close out September. (Yes, you read that right--the calendar has the regular season ending on September 27).
