With the new rules allowing divisional foes to face off in the Division Series, it was only a matter of time before these two epic and bitter rivals would go head-to-head in the ALDS. This is only the fourth time in MLB history that the Yankees and Red Sox will face each other in the postseason. The first time was in the 1999 ALCS, with the Yankees winning in five games. In 2003, the epic and heated seven game clash ended with Aaron Boone, now our manager, sending the Yankees to the World Series with one swing of the bat. Of course, the following year saw Boston deliver a huge 3-0 comeback, which started with a stolen base from Dave Roberts, now the Dodgers manager, in Game Four. 14 years later, here we are. For the first time ever, the Red Sox and Yankees will face off in the best-of-five series, and for the first time, the Red Sox will have home field--that's what winning 108 games gets you. However, with the way the rotation's set up, Boston has no chance. Happ and Tanaka will be the Yankees' respected Games One and Two starters, Red Sox will start Sale and Price. So a 2-0 lead is most likely to happen for the Yankees when we return to the Bronx. Our third starter hasn't been announced, though I would think Severino would get the nod, so with that, Boston's screwed. Prediction: Yankees sweep #1 |
