The first clinching scenarios of the season: Tampa Bay can clinch a playoff with a win and any of the following: 1. Montréal regulation loss 2. Columbus regulation loss 3. Any loss from Montréal and Columbus If Tampa Bay loses in OT/SO, both Montréal and Columbus have to lose in regulation. |

Tonight's clinching scenarios: Tampa Bay clinch the top spot in the East with a win and a Boston regulation loss. Calgary can clinch a playoff spot with an OT appearance or a Minnesota loss. San Jose can clinch a playoff spot with a win. If they lose in OT/SO, Minnesota both has to lose. If they lose in regulation, Minnesota's loss has to be in regulation and Chicago has to lose. |

Today's clinching scenarios: Boston can clinch a playoff spot with a win. If they lose in OT/SO, Montréal cannot pick up a ROW (Regulation/OT Win). Winnipeg can clinch a playoff spot with an OT appearance or either of the following: 1. Colorado regulation loss 2. Losses from Colorado and Minnesota Nashville can clinch a playoff spot with a ROW, a Colorado loss, and a Minnesota regulation loss. |
