I'm recording with BLaze DTV 6.50 The videos are *.mpg, but I can't find an editor for these clips. Some editors say the videos are not supported, others just show a black square instead of the video. ANy ideas of a good HDTV editor? |

I use VideoRedoPlus, Womble Mpeg Editor, & VideoRedo TV Suite h.264. They are all pay software, but you might be able to find cracked versions online (be careful.) You can use free Virtual Dub to make cuts, but it only outputs as .avi. First thing to consider is what type of output do you want. If you want the same quality mpeg-2 with no encoding on the outputs, then use a lossless editor like anything VideoRedo, Womble, or similar. If you want a compressed output file, then Womble, V-Dub, or similar would be what you want. If you want effects like slo-mo, reverse, fades, then Womble or similar software. |

I want a lossless editor. a) When I tried Video Re do Suite, it said: "Video program stream not found. UNable to open file name.mpg" b) Tried Womble. Shows all black in the video window. It seems that this Blaze DTV videos can't be recognized, although they are *.mpg |

Thanks for your help. Here's a sample video: http://www.mediafire.com/?a9o9r291ci2qjdq (I think it's h264 encoded) |

Huh, that's interesting. It's mpeg program stream container using h.264 codec. I guess that's the transmission standard there. Actually that's great for you because you will get the best possible picture, but as you can see it's hard to find software to work with it. I even tried the VideoRedo TV Suite h.264, and it didn't accept it. Try sending NickofTime a PM since he works with h.264 videos as well to ask him what he uses. memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=35928 If all else fails, you could always encode the vids to AVI, then put those in an editor. That's a lot of work though, and you will lose some quality. |
