Here in the NYC area, Verizon offers FiOS fiber optic straight to the house. How far will Bell Canada go with the fiber optic? Cable here in the US use fiber optic but only from the transmission place to major nodes and then use regular cable wire to the house. Therefore, the signal quality is reduced especially for HD. Also, will you be able to get internet service with Bell Canada's fiber optic network? If Bell Canada goes to the house with fiber optic, go with it and take the internet service as well if offered! The HD quality won't be reduced. You'll find that the speeds are much more faster even during "peak" hours. For a good example of HD over fiber optic to the house, take a look at any of IceMan's clips or caps. ![]() FYI... I have Verizon FiOS only for internet and phone. I have DirecTV for HDTV. I choose DirecTV for HDTV since I had them for a long time and they had always been good to me.

Bell Aliant FibreOP includes: FibreOP Internet FibreOP TV FibreOP Home Phone. This is from their website. in order to be able to provide 100% fibre optics and deliver the highest quality of service a new unit will be secured to the inside of your home which will be connected by new fibre optic cable to the adjacent telephone pole. |

That is what Verizon does here. I have a unit in my garage where the fiber optic from the pole connects to the house. In that case.... Go for it!

Cincinnati Bell runs the fiber to the house (the batcave in my case) where it's terminated and split off to other types of cable (coaxial for tv, ethernet for internet and phone for phone). |
