Anyone got any experience of using one in their PC? Looking for comments and recommendations.

I'll presume your not trying to spend thousands of dollars so for the most part hdtv cards work with a signal from an antenna or unencrypted cable. So the first thing you need to see if there are HD broadcasts in your area.

If you have broadcasts in your area, then decide on a card. I'd recommend a pci card over a usb. I use a fusion gold card and an indoor antenna to get recordings. If you live far from a broadcast tower you could by a signal amp to increase the signal strength. The card and the antenna will cost around $200.

I use the Fusion 3 Gold card from DVico but they have newer cards now like the Fusion 5:

Then, I use a $ 50 antenna from RadioShack:

Now, you can use any antenna but that's the one that worked best for me. Also, you could use your cable (like from Comcast, Cablevision etc...) if they have unencrypted locals. You won't know that till you try. Satellite won't work since it's always encrypted.

The only HD channels you can record, since they're the only ones unencrypted, is: ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CW, MyNetworkTV, Telefutura, PBS, and Univision.

It's well worth the purchase. Just make sure you have a fast PC, lot's of RAM and a big hard drive w/ lotsa free space.

Any questions just let me know.
