 I need some help please

I am on the market for a new pc. i see some that advertise pc with built in tv tuners that boast the ability to be programmed and an operator can copy tv action and or be there to take individual captures of the programming.....

I have one in my pc now and add on from Hauppague ? but I can't use it.

I have only one cable feed to my little room here and it's plugged into the back of the pc.

I need another seperate cable to get plugged into the back of my hauppague TV viewer capturer ??!

So, I spent my money for nothing. Some of my friends said I should buy a splitter, but I asked the cable guy to set it up when he came over for another problem, but he said if he hooked up a splitter, the signal to the pc would be cut down too much.....but, I could pay XXX hundred (I forgot how much) for a seperate line to be pulled into the den.....

So, finally the question is this, does anyone know for sure if these new pc's will run both the internet and the tv on one and the same cable connection or will I again be spending monry for something I cant use.

Thanks

Joe   :shades

I have a hauppauge WinTV on my computer and us Dscaler with it

I have a RCA 2 way Splitter on mine one line going to the TV one line going to my computer the picture on my computer is as good as the one on my TV

my computer and TV are only about 5 feet away from each other but from the splitter to the computer I use a 12 ft cable so the signal still has to go thru that 12 ft cable

I dont know how far apart your TV and computer are

buy a splitter and pay $6-$10 and see if that works first

I would suggest the same. It is such a small investment - and you could at least see what the result might be.

I have a three-way splitter running right now (set-up by my cable company - two separate rooms, two televisions, and one PC networked) with no visible loss of picture quality or connection speed.

That is odd that the cable guy would say that. But then again, it also depends upon how old the wiring in your place is. The older the wiring is, the poorer the signal.

Good luck.

I also think the cable guy was telling him that it might not get a good picture so he can sell the other line to him making him spend more money to the cable company

You could get a signal amp with the splitter.
