It was on September 4th, 1972 that CBS first broadcast what would become a staple in daytime television... The complete episode in worse quality, but with the original commercials. Surely I wasn't the only one who knew that staying home sick from school meant that you could stay in bed and comfortably watch TPIR. Even though today's models are fetching in their own right, I'm sure I'm not the only one that still thinks that Janice, Dian and Holly ends the model argument, period. |

Found a really clean full version, with commercials also -- looks like it was only posted to YT several weeks ago. And check this out -- They tracked down several past contestants to be on the anniversary show, including this guy -- Paul Levine, the first showcase winner 40 years ago, seen in the videos above. Odd thing is that Bob Barker apparently was not invited to show up. Bob thinks it's due to a disagreement he's had since he left on how the show gives away trips to places that have poor records on animal treatment. http://tv.yahoo.com/news/why-wasnt-bob- ... 00997.html . |

Holy crap, the first episode in good quality with the opening slate! Though the seat belt commercial seems to have a better and more disturbing impact with the lousy VHS dub. If there's one thing Paul Levine does well, he goes on TPIR every 40 years and wins at the Bonus Game! I'm not too surprised at the Barker snub, actually. With his extreme animal stances and all the bridges he's burned, they must've figured that it would've been a headache. At least they still interspersed the vintage clips throughout the show this morning. |

Yeah, but they had no problem inviting him back to push his book a couple years ago, and sort of "co-host" with Drew for a day. What's really changed since that? They knew all about his opinions and legal issues at that point - it was already old news when he retired. Glad you liked the clip . |
