I just don't get it. A few months ago TWC reduced the staff yet since then has brought former OCMs back.
Don't get me wrong I love Samantha Mohr but why would you demote Kelly and Nick to contributors and then bring another former OCM back?

Sounds like a cost cutting trick. The retail sector business model. They're rehiring OCM's for part time hours/part time $$$. It probably works in NBCU's favor to give out several small contracts vs a few OCM's making the Big Al, Cantore $$$ The OCM's that don't get an offer to like Crystal Egger that allowed her to go back home... The ones that consider Atlanta home... They don't have many other options than to take the cut in airtime and pay. Unless someone with deep pockets thinks they can rescue TWC's castaways and castoffs and revive the 24 hour weather format the longtime OCM's are stuck.

Something really gone wrong with TWC. Pretty much unmatchable now IMHO. Also in terms of cost the crappy reality shows they produce I would think cost more than having more OCM weather coverage.

Does anyone know if their viewership is up? Sad state of affairs if it is.

Kelly is about the only reason to watch anymore. I guess we still have Jenn and Steph but for how long. Once NBC took over a fired Sharon Resultan its been downhill eversince.

On a positive note Jennifer Lopez is now on Channel 2 Atlanta and looking great.

They get more $$$ from advertisers for the commericials that run during crap like their version of Deliverance. We also don't consider how many producers, camera people, lighting, hair and make up, directors and such that they aren't having to pay when they aren't airing live weather.

Trying hard not to be political, but the Obamacare employer mandate just kicked on Jan. 1. May have
something to do with it, but not sure. Could be just one more TWC clownshow action.

Not surprised here. TWC is not about weather anymore. It's about money and ratings (NBC) all the veterans are being replaced with younger and cheaper people. Vivian and Kim are probably next, then Bonnie. Abrams is on the chop, but not at this point. TWC is the Fox News of Weather. If a porn star could do a forecast they'd hire her. Lisa Ann should apply for Abrams spot, but she's probably too old. Reality shows and BS are all TWC is about now. :Furious

Jennifer Lopez is on today subbing for Jen D. so it's not as if other fill-in OCMs are leaving which makes the Kelly move to contributor even more odd.

One part of that theory doesn't add up, though.

If I had a production company, which would have lower costs and involve less crew to produce:

A multi-camera reality show involving 5 or more participants--especially one that takes place outdoors, moving people
and equipment all over the place...
or a weather forecast program with one or two fixed cameras and a cast of no more than 2 people,
done from a comfortable indoor set?

From my vantage point, my budget ought to suffer WAY more churning out a reality show
than it would doing a simple set-and-forget weather show with minimal effort.

I don't get how the network bean counters could figure it differently even if they wanted to. :Crazy

I feel the same way. "There's bad weather in a large portion of America. Here's more Fat Guys in the Woods"- Weather Channel logic

It's pouring, thunderstorm. Any harder and my Directv signal is going start fading out. My cellphone Gore off with an emergency alert. I see a tornado warning and figutred I'd check TWC. I thought that because the storms were forecast days in advance TWC might actually have some live weather coverage. I just lost Directv signal. Not that it matters. Highway Thru Hell wasn't doing me any good. :censor TWC

Some of the cost is offset by the ability to rerun each episode 250 times a year.
