Look who ABC13 WSET has for a new weekday meteorologist! Sydney Welch comes to "The Burg" from WCYB in Bristol, VA. She'll be taking over the spot left by Melissa LeFevre. Since Sydney is already from Virginia, and especially Bristol, she'll fit right at home with our crazy weather. And she's probably a NASCAR fan, so she'll feel right at home being closer to Martinsville's legendary "paperclip". Welcome to Sydney!

From what I've heard, she's from upstate New York, and she got her college education at Florida State. She started at WCYB in Bristol in 2018. WCYB is a sister station to WSET. |

On a side note I found it pretty interesting watching someone have to forecast for a station that broadcast to about 4 states. Five if they included West Virginia, but I guess that was a little north of their viewing area. But it didn't seem as far of a northern stretch as the area ABC13 covers being in central Virginia. |
