Courtney used to be a reporter and weekend anchor for my local ABC station, ABC13 in Lynchburg, Va. She now works at WTSP in Tampa, Fl. She has been awesome with simulcasting the 5 and 5:30 news on her Facebook page almost every day.

I miss Heather Van Nest (she was the co-anchor before she left and Courtney and Dion took her spot).

I know how you feel. There have been many personalities who have left my local market over the past 10 years. And Courtney's old station, WSET, has been hit lately with a ton of departures. They even went so far as to post job listings for their station among the commercials they would run as video classifieds.

I do admire Courtney's dedication so far in the growing trend that is posting behind the scenes video simulcasts of the news onto her Facebook page. I continue to follow several former local reporters from my Facebook page. Courtney remembers me from her WSET days. Some tried to post simulcasts every day, but they slowly started to stop doing them. Some post daily reports on stories that they are covering. Which is probably easier than trying to read the news, plus entertain viewers for an hour. But Courtney has been doing it weekly for the past few months, with only a day or two off.

Yeah it sucks especially when they leave for personal reasons like being stay at home parents (like Mrs. Van Nest). One hand you might understand another will miss them. Same with them going to another market but with the internet/social media and FB live which I see Courtney does, you have chances to see them. I hoping that Heather does come back, her kids will have to go school and a couple of local TV talent here "retired" then came back.
