Quite possibly one of the most memorable murder trials in the history of my area. I was 8 when it first took place. I'm 42 now, and the two that were sentenced to life have been paroled and are being deported. Taylor Coleman with the coverage of their release.

Im from that County I watched this trial, Jens Soering did not commit the murders, James Updike was Commonwealth Attn, he used this case to propel himself to the District Court Judgeship. Jens had only met the Hansom's once I believe it was, this was a crime of hate, stabbing them 50 times, Elizabeth testified in her trial she hated her parents which points to her and an alleged drug dealer she knew. No way this kid could have overpowered both of them Mr. Haysom was over 6 ft. and a large man, Jens was at best 140 lbs. I believe she met this kid at UVA, seduced the kid who was rather a geek, probably a virgin when they met, in her plot to kill her parents she admitted to hating

I'm from the Poor House Road area. Many people think Soering was innocent, including the current sheriff of Abermarle County. Soering indeed never looked the type would could accomplish such a horrific act.
