Ok someone from here asked me to make a thread comparing the former Caliente to the current Descontrol. Here are my two cents. Caliente set the bar pretty high with elaborate sets, Shooting shows all over the US and around latin america, the best latin music artists( including huge live acts) and the hottest girls in miami. There really is so no comparison. Caliente was the first of its kind. I will say this: Descontrol is getting better all the time. Most of the new shoots include many veteran Caliente dancers and they are even shooting at a water park which will be a nice change. It just took some time to get things off the ground but they are finally on the right track. I have only a few problems which I and many others have brought to Descontrol's attention. I understand that Univision owns most of the rights to the popular music and that Telemundo has to take what they can get but does anyone really want to go through an hour of rancheros and banda music??? I mean the show is in Miami( home of salsa and reggaeton) Sometimes it seems that even the girls dancing are annoyed. But really I can put up with that as long as the girls are cute and the camera angles work well. I am so glad that there is finally a dance show to fill the gap that Caliente left. So overall I am extremlely satisfied with the show so far. When Caliente started ( 1995) vcrs the only thing we could record on. So if anyone had taped the show it would only be on clunky vhs tapes with people out there not knowing how to transfer it. I am just amazed that with descontrol I can transfer every episode and keep it forever without the clunky tape. I will tell that I have about every episode of descontrol from 2007- to now. Simple amazing. I know that was a long ramble. But ya give me your thoughts. Oh but there is one thing that descontrol has that Caliente never had, a beautiful sexy host: Jessie Camacho!!!! I always know that even if the rest of the show fails there is always Jessie. Tell me what you think.

Personally, I find the shows boring.. yeah hot girls dancing in a bikini.. but the music is so bad that it makes it rather unwatchable.. so it gets boring after about 10 minutes or so..

Re: the music - yeah, you can't dance to that banda/ranchero crap...it's a waste that show could be a platform for upcoming acts...

Ok here's my 3 cents. I remember a similar discussion on a Yahoo group forum for Caliente a little while back.
Caliente did have it up on Descontrol as far as the following- Quality of broadcast, features like Moda and Chica Caliente (esp Chica Caliente), and I suppose the live guests. Frankly I did not care for the times they were on a battleship , a place like Chicago and esp. hated Rancho Caliente bc. all the girls wore jeans. I would turn it off when this was the case. I have years worth of VCR tapes like daguilera and I noticed that the last year or two many of the girls would wear sarongs or wraps over any bikini that was the slightest bit small. That was Univision's increasing timidness for that type of thing- I guess they were getting too big for a little spice in their shows.
And no one I know knows why it was cancelled about 4 years ago.
Obviously Descontrol has what i think are advantages like Jessie and I thought Erika was way hot thought she screams too much (I guess it's a no brainer they're hotter than Charlie or Raffi [joke]). They should go back to having two hostesses. Also like I said Telemundo has more balls for showing skimpy bikinis , not covering them up. And I like that most of the time it's in the same location. They tried a ranch version which was way better than Caliente w/ many Daisy Duke outfits.
As far as the music, it seems like the only difference is their live acts which as was said is always the banda Tigres del Norte type music, which Telemundo seems to have a big alliance with anyway. Groups like Horoscopos de Durango are on every show. They play videos like Juanes or Fanny Lu during Descontrol, but just don't have them play live. I don't get what was said about Univision owning music rights. Where I come from, these are owned by a music publishing company or record company, not a TV station. The groups I mentioned also appear on Univision but not as much so there must be some freedom of movement.
Last, they have DVD recorders that make it easy to convert VCR tapes to DVD's. You just need a lot of DVD's if you want any kind of quality to be transferred. Someone on the Yahoo group has mucho Caliente episodes posted on the internet.

I totally agree with everything you said. What i meant about the music is that a lot of these artists are under the label " Univision records" Get it?? So Univision has a large monopoly over some( not all) of these artists.
