ouch, this hurts!

I think you have to blame the MSNBC staff that vet the guests.

Wonder on a scale of 1 to 10, how upset Ball is that she was made of a fool of...

I remember Dan Rather having to deal with 1 of those idiots during the breaking coverage of the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.

I'm sure there's a call screener at MSNBC who will be looking for work by this time tomorrow.

You can't beat when they pranked Peter Jennings about OJ Simpson and Al Michaels had to fill him in on who Baba Booey was.

20 years ago during their coverage of the L.A. quake, somebody crank called CNN's Bernard Shaw by giving viewers a phone number to call to order Howard Stern's New Year's Eve PPV special.

And just last year at this time, KTVU got a burning over the Asiana pilots' names.

By the way, this was MSNBC...the same ones who had the audacity to interrupt a live interview with a congresswoman about the NSA spying scandal for breaking news from Miami about Justin Bieber -- JUSTIN FREAKING BIEBER!!!!! and his DUI arrest.

You can't defend cable news. They have their own BS agendas. Shows you how sad and desperate.

I hate to say it but BOR was right
No way Krystal should have been put in that position
That's where MSNBC misses a true pro like Chris Jansing

Very true - when hard news breaks like this, they should have a go-to journalist to anchor the coverage. Krystal Ball and the rest of The Cycle are just not the proper folks to be doing breaking news on the fly like that.

On a side note, the idiot who let that caller through should be fired for not going due diligence.

Plenty of blame to go around for everyone, when you have major new stories like this, all the networks are always looking for the latest tidbit of information, instead of doing their homework...didn anyone stop and think "how would a U.S. Staff Sergeant witness the missile strike"!

the host should take some blame too, once the guy mentioned Howard Stern she should've dumped out of it, NOT asked another question.
clearly she wasn't even listening to what the guy was saying.

Is it possible producers are talking in her ear during the interview? It's not the first time I've seen one of these pranks where the anchor doesn't seem to pick up on it at all.

What I also don't get is how it is that the director or producer didn't immediately cut the call
immediately when "Howard Stern" was mentioned....They left him on the whole time Krystal was
asking her follow-up question and allowed him to get his "you're a dumb a$$" comment in afterward.

It was like no one at all -- not just Krystal --- was even paying any attention to the content of what
he was saying. They just let him fly for an eternity there.
Pretty much what some are saying is true... clueless control room crew just happy to have what
they think is an "expert" on the air.

And too lazy to properly vet him in the first place.... How long would it take to
look the guy up and confirm his credentials? A minute or two? :Doh
