If you looked on Ginger Zee's Instagram, she mentioned that she was on vacation--someplace warm with the kids and seeing her cousin for the holidays.

In her place of course is what she mentioned as "my friend" in Cheryl Scott from ABC7 in Chicago (but plans to be back in time to practice for her fourth annual New Year's Eve pre-recorded dance somewhere in Chicago.)

I hope to get as many caps as I can amidst all of the gift wrapping and other details to make my holidays as festive and fun as it can be (considering a major blizzard will be impacting 28 states this week and major frostbite conditions will follow for several more days.)

I wonder if Cheryl will ever go national full-time. Newsnation is in Chicago. I would like them to hire both her and Robin Meade for a new morning show.

Cheryl could possibly do that someday, because Ginger herself went national in 2011 just a few years after being hired at NBC5 in Chicago. For a short time, there was a parade of other ladies from various affiliates that covered the weather for a day.

My guess is that ABC has Cheryl very high on their list in terms of filling in on weekends and at times during the holiday season, and understandably so.

Again, I have no inside information--but it definitely is something worth monitoring sometime down the road.
But for now, let's be grateful that Chicago has had an excellent roster of weather meteorologists for several years.
