I believe ABC is broadcast in 720p vs NBC,CBS which are 1080i.

From GMA, to World News Now, ... it seems to make a difference for the worse. Wonder if we will ever see an improvement in the sharpness and HD quality of ABC broadcasts.

Also, quite a while back, I think I noticed a reduced bit rate for NBC broadcasts. Overall, NBC still looks pretty good, but seems subject to more pixelation when changing from one camera shot to another.

ABC's HD is usually pretty good for non-news programs. GMA and WNN's HD is pretty awful a lot of times. GMA's is really noticeable on weekends. Any time they're away from the desk, it looks horribly upscaled, and WNN is the same.

CNN HD's bit rate is rather low too. I notice a lot of pixelation when shots change and I'm not even looking that hard. It's blatantly obvious for the first 2 seconds after an angle change.

Glad I'm not the only one that has noticed; I always wonder what the cost savings is to networks/broadcast infrastructure to skimp on the quality.

I know its more complicated than this, but when I see the weekend GMA couch shot that's all grainy and blurry, I say, "would someone go down to Best Buy and buy GMA an HD camera for crying out loud.

Some ABC stations have an HD sub channel that take away bandwidth from ABC HD and effect the picture quality.
I've also noticed that bad camera on GMA weekend for the couch segments.
Maybe that's the camera with the soft filtering they use for World News?
The wide camera on The Mix Segment of World News New is ok.
