Christine Romans, Christi Paul named anchors on CNN

Christine replaces Zoraida, which I had guessed in an earlier post. And Christi replaces Randi Kaye on the weekends. Randi left weekends to return to AC360 almost a year ago; hard to believe CNN waited this long to replace her.

Basically, Christi Paul took over the early morning weekend show renamed to CNN New Day Weekends. Guess that means no more Alison Kosik and Brianna Keilar and the rest. But Christi is fine so she will do for me. Not sure about Randi Kaye. I forgot about her. I never used to watch CNN on weekends because at one point it was all desk when Susan and Betty used to host it. I don't recall Randi on weekends, only when she did a weekday show and was replaced by Carol Costello. But it seems she now has a role on Anderson Cooper 360. I guess this means Christi is also done at HLN. She was hosting sometimes the 2pm to 5pm eastern show weekdays with Lynn Berry, Susan Hendricks and Mike Galanos or Vinnie Politan. But some days over the holidays it was just Lynn and Vinnie hosting.

Randi was the weekend morning co-anchor with Victor Blackwell for about a year between July 2012 and some time in early 2013. Almost all of CNN's female on-air talent have co-anchored weekend mornings in the interim since Randi went back to AC360. But the part about Christi being "done" at HLN is not true. Christi will continue to anchor on HLN on the weekdays as well.

Glad for Christi, but I'm going to miss the rotation and the variety that came along with it.

Yeah, but I don't that will be a problem. It's not like there will be a lack of Christi during the week. Her block on News Now is how long? 3 hours? And New Day Weekends are 3-1/2 hours long (Saturday is 4-1/2 hours including the additional hour of Newsroom).
