Wide World of Women

There's going to be a lot of this with the cable/satellite providers, and may produce outages that last for months. One of the ABC stations on DirecTV was off from about November 1-January 1. In the Lincoln/Hastings/Kearney market there are two ABC stations and all cable and satellite providers carry them both but ABC programming was not lost when one or the other stations has a dispute. Short of all channels being ala carte, I wish the cable/satellite providers would break down their tiers a little bit and choose the packages and channels you want.

Personally, I like the weather channel because of the fact that I've gotten used to their hosts and programing schedule. I think they are a first class organization. On the other hand, they do tend to have too many reality shows on. This other outfit "weather nation" is pretty pathetic from my standpoint. Looks to be a rotating cast of a few folks standing in front of a TV screen with a map pointing at stuff. I've just accepted the fact that I'll have to get my weather from other sources for the time being.

TWC was a huge waste. IceBerg Hunters? Shooting rounds at a iceberg and hoping ICE will fall into the ocean so some schmos from Canada can go get and sell it. That is how you lose money. TWC should be nothing but what their title says. The Weather Channel.

Al Roker's chickens have come home to roost!

I want DirecTV to bring back the Weather Channel soon because I miss watching Maria LaRosa, Stephanie Abrams, Jen Carfagno, and Kyla Grogan.

At appears DTV standing up to TWC might bring some changes.
Checking the TWC schedule for Saturday Feb. 1st shows Weather Center Live is returning at 4pm, 7pm, 10pm and 1am.
My guess is TWC bringing back the hours it took away for the relaunch last November is one of the things DTV is asking for in return for agreeing to a new contract with TWC.

Getting rid of so many hours was a huge mistake. They can probably run reality shows during the off peak hours if no weather emergency is happening, but once they got that tiny, dimmly lit studio and cut weather down to mornings it became impossible to ignore how badly they jumped over the shark.

Maybe I missed it somewhere else on the forum, but have any of the regular TWC cappers been shut out by this? Looks like Wizard is still on (thank you). I have cable so I can still see my favorites, Jen and Kelly.

1. *shrug* they and Dish and the rest are jacking up their rates this year. should have gone into effect as of your latest bill iirc.
2. @$100/month withOUT the college bball package I get every year...it's $1200 too much of my money going out the door. so as of last week I dropped their a$$. Just as well the bulb exploded right before xmas anyway, in my big screen. Going to order a new one next week and fix it myself for cheap. Perdition if I'm going to pay tv repair person prices for that when it's just as easy to do it myself.
