I caught a good deal of New Day this morning while getting ready for work and was struck by the contrast between how Alisyn did as co-anchor of the show and how Kate Bolduan has done. For the longest time I thought that Cuomo was the problem (too egotistical and in your face for an A.M. show) but I don't see CNN cutting Cuomo loose (or moving him to another time slot anytime soon) so that shifts the question to who should be the co-host. I really like Kate Bolduan, but after watching Alisyn today it is clear that Kate was promoted too fast and not in the right position....she would be a much better fit on, say, "The Lead with Kate Bolduan" or anchoring one of the daytime hours. Alisyn has the experience of co-hosting and it showed.....she has a presence (for lack of a better word) that Kate just doesn't have.
I can see why Jeff Zucker initially wanted Erin Burnett - she's a person who had years of experience co-hosting a show on CNBC and the necessary gravitas to be a co-anchor of CNN's programming foundation. Kate has a lot going for her but if Zucker wants to give New Day some fixing he would give the job to Alisyn who has that experience and gravitas. I don't know if it would happen as doing so would look bad given that Kate is going on maternity leave soon but this would be a good place for Zucker to start.

I only watched a bit and haven't watched the show with Kate Bolduan in a while and while I thought Alisyn was great, Cuomo still gives me douche chills. The guy is very annoying and seems like it would take someone experienced to work with him, as you said. If they really wanted to fix it, they would put John Berman as the male host and either Kate or Alisyn would be able to co-host.
There was also a pilot that was shot for a primetime show with Don Lemon, Chris Cuomo and Alisyn Camerota but I don't know how that would work out. One thing's for sure - Alisyn would be able to shine wherever they put her.

I think Aly's eventual spot will be New Day
One thing to remember is one of the reasons she was on F&FW was to keep Clayton in line, so she won't have any problem dealing with the likes of Cuomo after putting up with Clayton

Haven't watched Camerota very much in the past, she does have 18 years on Bolduan, probably counts for something... more experience

I doubt she'd have any ratings impact but hey what do they have to lose?

not sure any one thought of this or not. but cnn has been talking about doing change of line up for that show. also the fact might just use her on that show in till her new show starts. its good way to let people know she on cnn and give them chance for her to plug her new show while hosting morning show.

At this point, nothing.

New Day's problems go well beyond the lack of chemistry between the co-hosts. Just my opinion - I don't think that a straight news show (unless it's a niche show like Morning Joe and it's focus on politics) will win the day in the A.M. They should tune into Fox And Friends and see how they mix in news, politics and fluff. But this is a topic for another thread.

The same argument could be made for replacing Cuomo - IMO he would be better off at 8pm or 9pm instead of the morning show. But I don't see them giving Cuomo the boot from New Day so that leaves Kate Bolduan. If not Alisyn Camerota I think things would be better if they gave the gig to Brooke Baldwin. Looking back I think Kate got promoted too fast......she had little to no hosting experience (that I'm aware of) before New Day.
