Verizon dumping TWC was the straw that broke the camel's back. Between the loss of viewing households and the attack on Verizon that TWC leveled(where they encouraged viewers to dump Verizon in protest - which failed miserably), they lost not only the revenue from the households, but a large chunk of the advertising.
Add in their increasing reliance on long form programming, the average OCM salary of $90K and the endless needless and costly remotes (like today in St. Augustine) and TWC was pretty much flinging money out of the windows.
