I’m as sympathetic as anyone but I don’t know how long NBC can keep leading their newscasts with 10 minutes of no news on Savannah Guthrie’s mom

I'd hate to be morbid, but at this point the killer is long gone, the body is buried, and the FBI and that sheriff's department are probably still not coordinating anything.

Not a day goes by with some type of update.

Whether it's from the Pima County Sheriff (not as often as the media would like), Ashleigh Banfield (supposedly), TMZ (who would have thought they could play the hero), or Savannah Guthrie...this case is so baffling, not even some expert investigators can totally figure out.

Unlike watching those crime shows, where usually one lead can track down and find the suspect--we thought we had a match.

Instead, the gloves taken two miles from Nancy's home were examined in two labs--because it's the law.
The lab in Arizona had to process the DNA, then it was sent to another lab in Florida. Yet, they couldn't figure it out and ultimately it returned to Arizona and the result wasn't exactly what they were looking for.

The gloves did not match the suspect's gloves.

Just FYI, all local, state, and FBI agents and other investigators have to wear gloves all the time to protect the evidence so their fingerprints won't interfere. Your guess is as good as mine if they gave up or called it a day and just threw their gloves down to the ground. If that was me, I would have just kept on and opened the car door with it because you don't want to burn your hand with a car/SUV that is parked in the hot sun.

And one member of the media during Tuesday's press conference asked, but the sheriff mentioned that the search continues in Arizona--shooting down an internet rumor that the suspect took off to head south of the border to Mexico. They use a system called CODIS (meaning the Combined DNA Index System), a national database of profiles of convicted people.

The DNA taken inside the house, that's a whole other question.

What one normal person would think about that is beyond me, and I am not a lawyer. All I know is what we see on the news and read stories online, plus checking out Savannah's desperate pleas.

For a moment, think about how traumatizing it was for Savannah and her family and spouses:
Their homes and vehicles were searched, their DNA's were extracted, and whatever interrogations they suffered through--that have must have caused a lot of shaken nerves. This rigorous process had to be done, now that everyone is no longer a suspect and are deemed as victims.

Until Savannah releases another Instagram video, we know what to do--stay tuned online and the Amy & T.J. Podcast feed.

Even the YouTube account belonging to 857 Tucson decided to put the audio of the Pima County Sheriff's vehicle scanner, just in case if they find the actual suspect.
And just in case if the audio isn't of clear quality, they type the words in transcript form--so increase the screen if you are using a desktop or laptop to what the authorities are reporting.

During the coverage of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, the TODAY show continues to talk about her and occasionally air images outside Savannah's home.

I can only imagine how that coverage might increase once the Olympics end on Sunday afternoon.

"Legendary February" joined 2022's "Solid Gold Sunday" as TV taglines as infamous of the old "TGIF" lineups that ABC used to promote their comedies back in the 1990's and early 2000's.

Typically, people wear yellow ribbons to show signs of strength and unity. Many talent on the TODAY show have been displaying it since the start of the Milan-Cortina Olympics. All of this taking place after Savannah's neighbors in the foothills near Tucson made their own banners with ribbons all along the side of the huge poster.

And don't ever think of seeing this as a future episode of Dateline. As devastated as her family is, let's all continue to give her grace and privacy. Her career is definitely on the line, either way and returning full time to NBC is the last thing on her mind.

It's too bad the Peacock couldn't re-air the 2002 Winter Olympics when they were held in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Bottom line, let's continue to pray like Savannah has said numerous times on her Instagram. Bring Nancy home!

HUGE news from Savannah, as her fifth message has completely shifted in tone.
From pleading and asking for help, to possibly accepting the inevitable.

One, the family will be awarding $1 million to find her--this on top of a separate $200,000 reward sent by an anonymous donor (I believe that didn't get enough media attention, because of her employer NBC was busy carrying the highly successful Winter Games in Milan-Cortina, Italy.)

Two, the family will be donating $500,000 to a worthy charity involving missing and exploited children.

Third, in the nearly four minute long post--her background of talking most things religion has mentioned for the first time that the outcome is the worst thing of all.

Fourth, very few updates from the Pima County sheriff, which continues to be the case since practically on Valentine's Day. They are seeing the investigative process grow--similar crime stories have crimes exist for 20, 30 years or more.

Way back in the 1980's, NBC had a popular Sunday night franchise titled Unsolved Mysteries. No doubt that if they bring the series, this will be episode one (if Savannah agrees to have her network air it.)

Small piece of news from Thursday:

Residents have complained of noise and trespassing on the area streets from media, reporters, and investigators.

The Pima County sheriff's office released a statement that reporters can no longer park there, but can still get to the front area of the home on foot to file their reports.

If they continue to park in the adjacent streets, they will have to pay a $250 fine.

Also, the FBI gave the go-ahead so that her family is allowed back into the house.
A small victory, yes. Hopefully, they will get the most highly advanced security system and learn to disarm, if they receive packages or a food delivery from Uber Eats where they will know they have to open the door.
Common sense, people.

No press conferences are scheduled unless there is major news to report.
And the FBI Command Center is relocating from Tucson to Phoenix.

It was only a question of when, and it finally came true this morning.

Savannah returned to the TODAY show set at Studio 1A at 30 Rock in New York on Thursday (nearly one month to the day when she was supposed to be in Milan, Italy to cover the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics).

She was seen tearfully hugging her colleagues in some photos off the set (since she did not appear on the air), all captured by none other than...you guessed it, TMZ and the N.Y. Daily News:

She said she will return to co-host the show "at some point."

Savannah released on her Instagram Sunday morning that "We cannot grieve; we can only grieve and wonder."

Obviously, all hope to bring back Nancy Guthrie is gone.
Still, Savannah is asking everyone in her neighborhood to see what they kept file wise and whatever kept on their Ring doorbells not only on January 31, but also any text messages, even general conversations from the late night of January 11.

That was when news came out on Wednesday (March 18), when a video showed a masked man that roamed around that same neighborhood three weeks earlier than the January 31/February 1 kidnapping.

Meanwhile, embattled Sheriff Chris Nanos is embroiled in some controversy about his past employment. The Pima County Board of Supervisors will consider next steps this week regarding Sheriff Nanos. Several news outlets reported that he was under fire for misrepresenting his resume and allegedly lying under oath about disclosing past disciplinary actions when he was sheriff in another state before taking the Arizona job.

He mentioned in an one hour interview that the thousands of people who came forth with initial leads to the FBI has been pared down to 20 full-time investigators.
So, he may either remain or be fired by the end of the week, who knows?

We certainly know that money is a factor and of course, the Guthries are basically looking for closure.
And it has been seven weeks and 15 Instagram posts later, it does not look good.

Bottom line, continue to pray and hope their citizens can uncover the ONE lead that will crack this case.

Hoda had a two part interview with Savannah, who will return to Today on Monday April 6

I saw that interview this morning. None of us can understand how she's dealing with the pain, but it might be good for her to return to Today. When she returns, it will be two months since her mother was reported missing. She needs something back in her life that feels normal, even through all of this.

Police in Scottsdale found remains thrown into a canal on 3/28, but the body that was found was not that of Nancy Guthrie.

FOX 10 in Phoenix spoke to some legal experts this past Thursday on how befuddling this case has turned out to be, since it has been over two months since Nancy's disappearance:

It was really inspirational watching Savannah return to Today, this morning. She made it through like a pro.
