A friend of mine recently called in to a radio show, and told a totally outrageous story, which was a total lie that he keeps perpetuating. He kind of likes to brag/make things up, and tells tall tales which we all know didn't happen. Well, one of these "tall tales" he keeps talking about, he told on the air. Another mutual friend told me about it, so we went to the radio station website and listened to the podcast. Now, we want to break his balls
Now that the back story is out of the way, I need help with this plan.
I downloaded the podcast mp3 to my computer. Is there a way to edit/rip just that segment of audio from the podcast? I don't know what audio software to use as I've never done any editing.

We're thinking of taking that audio clip and next time he's playing in our hockey rink, piping that segment over the sound system, and maybe making up some signs to go along with it :Joker

Off the top of my head, I know Cool Edit can edit MP3 files directly. Cool Edit is not Adobe Audition, which means there is no more trial version. You can try some of the older versions of Cool Edit at http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=coolpro.

Personally, I use Sound Forge. It's GEICO easy.

But it costs.

I actually used it to edit a podcast for a friend (the one in my avatar). She was the last interview in an hour-long segment - worked fabulously.

I'll try to a do a little searching... there are some amazing free applications out there (that actually work).

I downloaded something called "mp3DirectCut", which I found through Google. It was freeware, and got some good user reviews. I just haven't had time to go through the online manual yet.

Don't make it hard on yourself cowpie, you can use windows movie maker to edit an mp3, drag the file into audio, make your cuts, and wallah done. It'll save as a .wma but I'm sure you can find a free or a trial mp3 converter or just burn it on a cd as an audio.
