I checked all my apps, but nothing. Nero Wave Editor has a bunch of options, but no midi.

Yeah there's a lot of midi to mp3 or wav but not vice versa. I have a palm treo phone and the only way to have ringtones on it is to have them in midi files. Palm phone ringtones aren't real abundant so I was going to take some mp3s and convert.

I'm not even sure that it is possible. After reading this thread, my interest was piqued...so I did some quick research. What I found reinforced my initial thoughs. The type of data that a MIDI file is makes it impossible to convert another type of file to it. If there was a program to do it, it doesn't seem that it would work very well...

This was one of the threads I came across regarding mp3 to MIDI. It explains it pretty well: http://forums.macosxhints.com/showthread.php?t=26229

I did find a program. I haven't messed with it too much. It takes a lot of work to convert and get it to sound okay if you want the words. You have to tell the program where the beats are by hitting the space bar.
