I have so many good leg shots on vhs, including patricia richardson-the good years-, michelle pfiefer from "I am Sam",julia louis dreyfus, Tea Leoni. And that is just the tip of the iceberg but I am a computer retard, so I don't know how to transfer them to the forum. i would love to contribute. I have been in the forum for a while and I feel bad I have reaped all the benefits from the forum and not posted anything in return.

Well what kind of computer do you have? What kind of CPU and speed, how much RAM, what operating ssytem, etc. You can get a good capture card for $50. You can always buy one from a computer store and have them install it for you, though it will cost extra.

fretty, if you got a DVD recorder for your TV, you can hook up your VCR to it and back up your tapes to a DVD Disc. Then use your computer to get your caps as long as you a DVD drive in your computer. You might have to download a DVD player that will allow you to capture still shots.

Thats how I get mine

I have a DVD recorder/VCR combo for my TV and I can play the DVDs on my computer. I have InterVideo WinDVD 4, Windows Media Player, Realplayer, etc. Do any of them allow you to do this?

What you need is Nero. That came with my computer DVD burner. It has a feature to make caps. Look at the caps I made for the three clips I posted the other day. Not the best quality but better than nothing.

Nero makes the caps to be bmp files, which are huge in size. I use ACDSee to rename and covert the pics from bmp files to jpg files.

The recent clips I posted, I actually ripped from the DVDs I made with my DVD/VCR recorder. That is a whole different process in itself. :P

I hope this helps.

I did a search and found something called PowerDVD, and I downloaded the trial version for 30 days. It allows you to make a cap from a DVD. I don't know yet if I can do a frame by frame advance, but I was able pause it, then make some caps. It makes them into bmp files too.
