I need a suggestion for a component video input capable HD video capture card. I currently have an AverMedia HD capture card but I have discovered a serious bug in their system which causes a motion blur like effect to occur when capturing 1080i video. It's not a regular interlacing type issue. This is different. The video plays fine in the AverMedia Center TV preview window. But once it's recorded the video adds a ghost image on top of the current frame that appears to be the next frame. This causes a cumulative blurring like effect to be displayed.
Example 1 shows the AverMedia Center preview window.
Example 2 shows a frame grab of the exact same frame from video that was recorded using their software. I have circled the relevant area in red.
Example 2 shows the problem. It should be an exact 1:1 match to Example 1 but it is not.
If this was just an interlacing issue, then the vdeo should display exactly the same when ported to Blu-Ray disc because the TV should be able to account for the interlacing. It does not. Instead it bakes in the ghost image so that both images are displayed on any given frame with motion. This results in a lower quality video because it looks blurrier. Not tremendously blurrier but blurry enough to annoy the hell out of me since I'm a pompous prick who can't stand change...er...I mean videophile.
I fired off a support email to AverMedia tonight but I'm not hopeful of a solution since my card is now no longer being made. So this is why I'm now looking for a new card to do this with. Any suggestions?
