Honduran-born journalist Neida Sandoval confirmed that she has resigned as anchor of the United States-based Spanish-language Univision television network's “¡Despierta América!” (Good Morning America!) morning program. "Dear friends, after 14 years and two months of waking América, yesterday was my last day at ¡Despierta América!. I take with me only beautiful memories," wrote Mrs. Sandoval on her Twitter page. She clarified that her departure was her decision. "The Univision network did not fire me, they offered me options that I decided not to take, and I asked to leave the company," she said. "I wish to thank my colleagues at ¡Despierta América!. I love you! It was a great time in my life which highlighted my existence as a woman and journalist." The anchor worked 23 years at Univision -- 14 of them on ¡Despierta América!. Mrs. Sandoval, 50, was born in Minas de Oro, Comayagua. She lives in Miami with her husband, North American David Cochran, and two children, Aline Aída and Abener David. (6/15/11) (photo of Neida Sandoval courtesy Internet)
