Born on March 8, 1977 in Hampton, New Hampshire as Tricia Ann Regan McEachern, Regan graduated come laude in 2000 from Columbia University with a bachelor's degree in U.S. history. She is also an honors graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy. She is fluent in Spanish and speaks Italian.

Regan began her career working at Goldman Sachs in emerging debt markets covering Latin America, and at the hedge fund, D.E. Shaw & Co. Regan has said she never intended to have a career in either finance or news — instead, she grew up believing she would pursue a career in opera.

As Miss New Hampshire in the Miss America pageant, Regan won the first annual Bernard Wayne award (Wayne was the composer of the theme song 'There She Is, Miss America') for the contestant with the most promise in the performing arts. Regan studied classical voice in Graz, Austria and at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston before enrolling at Columbia. While still in high school, Regan was awarded first place in the Harvard Musical Association's competition.

In April 2006, the Houston Chronicle named her one of ten women in broadcast news to watch and stated, "she shows exceptional ability to report. She's a future star". In 2010, Regan made the list of “Top 30 Irish Americans in Media.”

Regan is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Her book Joint Ventures: Inside America's Almost Legal Marijuana Industry was released in April 2011 by John Wiley & Sons. Prior to the premiere of her documentary, Marijuana USA, she told a marijuana blog, "I have not tried marijuana. I've never smoked a cigarette."

She and her husband, an investment banker, were married in 2001. They live in New York with their twin infant daughters.

A certain investment banker is one lucky guy!!!! It's funny how Margaret Brennan took up Irish dancing when she was a teenager and now we find that Trish wanted to be an opera singer!!! And I can believe that she was a former Miss New Hampshire!

Little bit of trivia: The winner of Miss America in 1993 was Leanza Cornett, who is married to ET co-host Mark Steines!

Trish Regan was actually born in 1973, not 1977.

She was 20, not an impossible 16, as 1993 Miss New Hampshire and Miss America contestant.

Hail the 3 S's! They rule. Thanks! Here are the caps from last night's First Look and Countdown. Mostly Caroline. Linzie was in trousers again and I fell asleep a bit early too.

That documentary is still being played on CNBC. In a promo, it says that it won some award. So bravo to Trish and her team. Yes, a very lucky guy. These women are smart, beautiful and talented. No wonder we like them so.

O, well. I got Caroline earlier in the evening on video with Mark and Elliot there. Just my luck. Not sure when I fell asleep but the last thing I recorded was at 1:25 or so.
