Just a few days after rumors began about incoming CNN chief Jeff Zucker possibly moving Erin Burnett to mornings,
there's now a new rumor that Zucker may try to grab Ann Curry from his old network, NBC, and give her a high profile
position at CNN, maybe pushing Anderson Cooper out into the field as a correspondent.

This could all be just a rumor, and we all know CNN's track record of importing talent from NBC hasn't been
perfect....Erin's holding her own, but doesn't have huge ratings, and Campbell Brown faded away after a couple years.

Well since Zucker is going to run CNN then it makes sense he would look at NBC personnel as well as people he has worked with before.

A bit of an update to this -- and looking more like it's not a rumor.

For Ann, the real catch there is that she'd have to stay off the air for up to two years if she gets cut loose now.
About the only way around that would be pulling off some kind of contract shredding similar to
how Conan O'Brien left NBC, and started his current show several months later.

I assume that is why the discussion of breach of contract on NBCs behalf for demoting her. IANAL but I'd guess that is a starting point. The other is whether its enforceable only in NY or something. Perhaps she could relocate to Atlanta to avoid that if that's under state law and not federal.

I would welcome the changes if they did something like get rid of John Berman or something to make a spot for her. Though I'd still rather have Christine Romans back in the other chair on Early Start permanently.

To me, CNN's problem is content, not talent. As already mentioned, they have tried Campbell Brown and now have Erin Burnett and their ratings are still stuck at 3rd place. If ratings are the goal then Ann Curry (as much as I like her) is not the answer. If CNN wants to be the non-biased, straight news network then they should resign themselves to lagging behind the opinionated Fox and MSNBC.

I'd like to see less politics (which Fox and MSNBC is consumed with) and more international news.

I agree, but politics and shallow crap probably gets higher ratings :Doh than hard-core news especially international news.

Well, apparently it does as the ratings don't lie. CNN tries to do it but watching their election night coverage (spare Erin Burnett or Brooke Baldwin) is unbearable.

Don't forget guys that Zucker was at the head of the bus during the Jay Leno 10pm experiment. :TickTock

His whole path of destruction is laid out here...

I can see him putting CNN in a worse position. :Furious :censor :Furious :censor

Yeah....Zucker was the guy who steered MSNBC to the Left which isn't a bad thing on its face as it succeeded in elevating the network above CNN in the ratings on a consistent basis. However, the network has become worse than Fox in that they have more pure opinion shows and it becomes a broken record. I think he's also the guy who brought about the "Locked Up" marathons.

It should be interesting to see how this plays out.....I would imagine that if Zucker wants to water down the network's programming too much that we'll start to see talent bail out.
