PIX11 News today announced a new anchor lineup for the 4-6 am hours of PIX11 Morning News, with Marysol Castro joining the station to anchor alongside Dan Mannarino weekday mornings beginning September 9th.
Castro, who was the Traffic Reporter for PIX11 when it launched Morning News in 2000, will return to the station to anchor PIX11 Morning News from 4-6 am. Dan Mannarino, who has been reporting and fill-in anchoring for PIX11 since 2011, has been promoted to anchor.
“Marysol’s experience on-air, both locally and nationally, is a tremendous asset to PIX11 News. Our viewers have watched Marysol grow up here on PIX11 and we are happy to have her back where she belongs,” said Mark Effron, VP/News Director. “Morning News viewers will see a real camaraderie between Marysol and Dan and we’re excited to provide the best news, weather and traffic for our audience as they start their day.”
Castro has most recently served as the weather anchor for CBS’s The Early Show and the weather anchor and features correspondent for ABC’s Good Morning America. Castro began her career in television as a reporter and anchor for News 12 The Bronx.
“As a native New Yorker, I grew up watching PIX. Working at the station some 10 years ago was quite a rewarding experience. We have an incredible team and I can’t wait to start my mornings with everyone. It’s good to be coming back home,” said Castro.
Castro, the mother of two boys, holds a Masters of Arts in Journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a Bachelors of Arts in Government and English from Wesleyan University.

. I hated her since we lost Lynne b/c of her but when I met her she was as nice as nice can be. She is like she is on the show & she does connect with a lot of the audience. She is either a love or hate but has enough people in the love column that PIX would actually be WORSE off if the get rid of her now with all the changing they constantly do.
