From her facebook:

TWC is going to move some things around in their schedule to bring viewers some new programming. Starting Monday Nick and Vivian will keep you informed on Day Planner from 11-2 ET. Beginning April 14 I will cover the weekends between 11-2 ET and again from 4-5 pm ET. I will be working with Todd. I hope you'll join us!

And NBC/Universal's destructive rampage continues... :Doh

It's been discussed in other threads recently, but this and the many other ridiculous decisions they've made makes me wonder --
for all the changes the last couple of years, mainly in the turn to the reality series and other content, what exactly have they
gained from it? I haven't heard of a single one of those shows "setting the world on fire" for them, like for example the way
"Jon & Kate" was a boom for TLC, or "Jersey Shore" is for MTV.

So what is it that makes the suits think all of this screwing around with TWC is actually working???

.

Here in St. Louis, MO the NBC affiliate KSDK proclaims its "Where the News Come First". Ironically, it appears Comcast/NBC has decided T"W"C
is "Where the Weather Comes Last." I've gone from anger to outright bewilderment. Give the people what they don't want? Bizarre and sad.

See? She's gotten the Mohr slot. That's how it starts. Pretty soon she'll be out like her too. Now, before I lose my composure, I'll just leave things off here.

Typical TWC BS. Won't be long for Heather now.

And HTF does Vivian 'Gulf of Texaco' Brown still have a job, much less a weekday slot. NBCU's idiocy knows no bounds.

Also, that weekend shift, was Maria's shift. So what did the big idiots do to her? I don't think I want to know....

As much as we love the women, keep in mind it is a business -- and the only source of income is advertising. Most..by a big margin .. are different than us and couldn't tell you a Jen Carfagno from a Kelly Cass, etc.

The main goal, is always, is to create a target audience. That is why channels like Headline News and TWC had to move away from the same programming over and over again to "shows". That way they can tell an advertiser that from "this time to this time" program-A will air, then Program-B, etc. Certain shows draw a certain audience and thus can be a better way of offering advertisers an audience that will see their commercial.

Overall ratings matter far less than "targeted" ratings. I promise you that NBC is not sitting around with their thumbs up their a##es having no idea why they are doing what they are doing. TWC has for many many years suffered from the increase in availability of internet weather, and more importantly the cell-phone/smart phone explosion. People can wake up in the morning and see the weather on their phone in 2 seconds.

REal weather geeks -- and certainly those who appreciate the weather babes -- are the VAST minority of viewers.

So, it shouldn't be unexpected that the amount of OCM's will decrease dramatically.

Still, the #1 source of their ratings are during Hurricane coverage, so they won't go away completely. But, somehow, they'll merge NBC News/TWC as one unit allowing for costs to be cut and to streamline their products into an overall targeted advertising package -- which in turn can be streamlined into TWC.com/NBC.com as an online website and phone app -- and that is the new generation of news and TV.

Meanwhile, we'll all have to find another way to target our libido -- which I'm sure is easy for us :)

Not surprised. The only two women who are safe are Abrams and Carfagno. Heather's stock with the station has been down since Marshall Seese retired. No clue as to why, but her position has never been steady since he left. Same thing happened with Nicole.

I could see her potentially going to CNN. They could use more female weather gals and Jacqui Jeras is one of her best friends, so she already has an "in", so to speak.

Kelly said her schedule remains the same Wednesday through Sunday.
She will be doing Weather Center Live 1am ET with Adam Thursday and Friday.

The Toledo Blade ran an article about the format changes at TWC with added feature programs. The main problem for TWC was fact that most viewers tune in to check local forecast and then tuned out. Now that info is available on the internet or on mobile devices. The new programming with people working in the weather is supposed to draw people who watch longer than a few minutes at a time when there is no hurricane or other weather event of the day. Supposedly it is part of evolving focus similar as History Channel doing Ice Road Truckers. Article cited problems noted by critics when TWC did not to into full weather event mode and stayed with canned programming instead. Management stated that now with doing two hour blocks of 1/2 hour feature programs they can more easily switch back and forth to full time weather alerts if they deem necessary. Don't really like it but that's the story.

If TWC is really moving towards more half hour shows, hopefully Heather will be given some sort of gig. Maybe all her recent pet stories was a trial run. Just as long as they don't have her coming in during the week to do online forecasts. That's what they did to Sam.

Oh, I'm sure many would have to agree with that point, chicagomatt -- thumbs is probably inaccurate.....

Most would say instead that it's their heads.

While I don't agree with them and want live content 2pm-4pm,
the simple answer is it's cheaper to run taped programming then do a live show.
Research must indicate that The Weather Channel has lower ratings between 2pm and 4pm so those hours are no longer live.
I'm sure if there is a big storm they will go live during those hours.

Hmph. Soon it's going to be cheaper for NBC to not air TWC at all.

Haven't seen Heather this week at all. Does this mean she is on vacation until new schedule kicks in April 14?

Maybe...she hasn't posted on facebook since the announcement.

Something that hasn't been mentioned yet: You know how some stations show infomercials late at night and on weekend afternoons? I can almost see them taking that route if they think it can increase revenue. You tune in late at night or on the weekend while a severe storm bears down only to find Kevin Trudeau talking about Free Money, Debt Cures or Natural Cures They Don't Want You To Know About. :jetserl
